The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) has confiscated a mobile phone allegedly used to pass sensitive information to drug syndicates, the Commander, Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, confirmed during the End-of-Year Parade today.

“Last week, I ordered an interview with an RFMF personnel after being informed that a mobile number was allegedly being used to share details of our plans and activities with external criminal elements,” he said.

“The phone has been confiscated, and the individual concerned was brought in, questioned, and ordered to take leave to allow an independent investigation to proceed immediately,” Major-General Kalouniwai added.

He warned all members of the Force against involvement in illegal activities, stressing that such behaviour will not be tolerated.

“This sends a strong message: we cannot take matters into our own hands, and any participation in unlawful actions will be dealt with firmly,” he said.
